Playground Volunteers Needed

Posted by Jana Krausfeldt on Feb 14, 2013

Lunchroom Recess is in need of parent volunteers.  Parents are welcome to volunteer for as many days as they would like.  Sign up is for the entire hour period to assist the current staff with monitoring playground activities.  Please note the need is for you to be on the playground the entire hour due to the large number of our students that participate in lunch recess.  The more parental volunteers we can get the more varied activities our students will be able to participate in.

The sign- up sheet will be located in the main office starting Friday, February 15th.  The first day of sign up will be for February 19th.  In the binder you will also find a copy of the playground rules for volunteers.  Please take a sheet with you and review before your first volunteer day.

There are also videos available on how to handle playground issues in a positive way.  These videos are not required, but available to everyone.  Beth Gregor has offered to show the videos on February 21st from 9:30-10:30 in the TRC.  Please contact her if you are available to watch on the 21st of February.  We can come up with alternative days if enough interest is shown to view these videos.  Otherwise feel free to contact Beth Gregor on your own.

On the days you volunteer please sign in at the office before recess begins at 11:05 a.m. and obtain a badge.  On the playground check in with Barbara Caskey, the lead supervisor.  She will advise you what the need is for that day.

The purpose for volunteering is to make recess a safe and enjoyable experience for all the students of Emerson.  If situations occur during the time you are there and you are not comfortable handling, please seek out a staff member to assist you.

If you have any other questions or concerns please contact Karen Cullen Meyer atkcmeyer3@comcast.net or Nikki Wyllie at nwyllie@comcast.net.   We realize everyone has busy schedules, but any time you could volunteer would be greatly appreciated by the staff and students of Emerson.
