Scholastic Book Fair and Poetry Slam Coming to Emerson on Dec. 9!

Posted by Joan Letourneau on Dec 6, 2010

This fun family event will take place from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, Dec. 9 in the multi-purpose room. Stock up on reading materials for winter break, purchase books for your child’s classroom, and do some holiday shopping – it all benefits our school.

During the book fair, the Emerson Charitable Committee will be holding a book drive to benefit a local charity, so gather up your gently used children's books (appropriate for Pre-K to 8th grade classrooms) for donation to a worthy cause. Please note that we are accepting a maximum of 10 donated books per Emerson family.

A limited number of Manna gift cards also will be available for sale during the Dec. 9 event. Please consider purchasing a gift card for donation to a local family receiving assistance this holiday season through the United Community Concerns Association (UCCA) Adopt-a-Family program.

In addition, there will be an open mic “Poetry Slam” from 6:30 to 7:30 pm in the Emerson school gym. At this time, students are invited to share their poems created during the week-long poetry residency with "A Child's Voice" (click here for more information on the poetry residency).

Please see the attached flyer for more information on the Book and Poetry Fair event.
