Emerson School Hosting "A Child's Voice" Poetry Residency

Posted by Joan Letourneau on Nov 24, 2010

Emerson School will be hosting Bill Buczinsky, founder of A Child’s Voice, for a week-long poetry residency from Nov. 29-Dec. 6. A Child’s Voice focuses on helping children of all ages develop their poetic powers. The week will kick off with an all school assembly on Monday, Nov. 29 and will continue with classroom poetry workshops for all students.

The residency will culminate in an open mic “Poetry Slam” from 6:30 to 7:30 pm on Thursday, Dec. 9 (during the book fair). At this time, students are invited to share their poetic creations. Families are welcome and encouraged to attend the “Poetry Slam” event, which will take place in the Emerson school gym. In addition, A Child’s Voice poetry workbooks will be available for purchase at the cost of $9/each.

Please contact Barb Uditsky if you are able to videotape the "Poetry Slam" event.
