Wednesday, October 6 is International Walk to School Day

Posted by Joan Letourneau on Sep 30, 2010

Wednesday, Oct. 6 is International Walk to School Day. Join millions of walkers from more than 40 countries who walk to teach and practice pedestrian and bicycling safety skills, enhance the health of kids, and improve air quality and the environment.

Emerson's Go Green Committee will be using the same “Walking School Bus” system that has been successfully implemented for previous Walk to School Days and Earth Days. Adult volunteers will gather with students on designated street corners at specific times and safely walk together to school.

Click here to view the "Walking School Bus" schedule.

For families living far from Emerson or for parents who normally drop children off at school on the way to work, on Walk to School Day students can be dropped at the nearest supervised corner instead.
