Driver Safety Reminders

Posted by Joan Letourneau on Aug 23, 2010

As we begin a new school year, we wanted to pass along a reminder about recent changes in the law intended to promote driver safety.

As of July 22, 2010:
Illinois drivers must come to a complete stop for pedestrians in all crosswalks. A crosswalk includes:

  • All intersections
  • Points on the road where a sidewalk leads into the street
  • Marked crosswalks

Previous Illinois law required drivers only to yield at crosswalks.

As of 2009:
The use of cell phones by drivers is banned while traveling on roadways through a marked highway construction or school zone.

For the sake of our children, thank you for your attention to and compliance with these safe driver laws!
