President's message

The 2010-2011 School Year is Here!

Posted by Vanessa Cowhey on Aug 11, 2010

As PTA president for 2010-2011, I am very excited about the events and activities we have planned for our children.  The coming school year is set to be an exciting one for Emerson.

Last year we implemented several new committees and programs that have been hugely successful.  We cannot, however, continue to be successful without the help of our parents.  Now is the time to consider how you want to contribute.  The Emerson PTA offers a variety of volunteer options throughout the year.  There are so many ways to get involved that can work with your schedule.  Please review the volunteer brochure and pick out the activities of interest to you.  It is active participation from our community that allows us to continue offering fun and educational programs and events for our children.

Click here for access to the Fair Share Activity Fee/PTA Membership Dues form.  As a “fair share” school, Emerson has chosen not to participate in fundraising efforts that require families to sell items like candy, gift wrap, etc.  Instead, the PTA collects a one-time, annual fee per child.  The activity fees collected from each child make up the largest percentage of our operating budget.  It allows us to provide excellent activities and programs for our children.  Representatives will be available at the Opening Day Coffee to process your PTA membership and accept payment (cash/check) of Fair Share and PTA fees, or you can send it to school in an envelope marked “Emerson PTA.”

I encourage you to attend our monthly PTA meetings, which are generally held on the third Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm. in the Emerson library. The first meeting will be held Tuesday, September 21. Check the Emerson PTA calendar for the complete schedule.

Best regards,

Michelle Albers-Emerson PTA President
